2004 METROPOLIS CLERGY-LAITY ASSEMBLY

General Information
  METROPOLIS CLERGY-LAITY ASSEMBLY
The Metropolis Clergy-Laity Assembly concerns itself with all matters affecting the life and growth of the Church within the Metropolis. Clergy and lay representatives from the Metropolis parishes, along with members of the Metropolis Council and Archdiocesan Council, gather annually with the Metropolitan to discuss matters of common concern in the life of the local parishes, the Metropolis, and the Archdiocese.
  METROPOLIS PHILOPTOCHOS ASSEMBLY
The Metropolis Philoptochos Assembly is convened annually to discuss matters affecting the life and ministries of Philoptochos. Delegates and observers from each local parish chapter gather together with the Metropolis Philoptochos President and executive board, to discuss various philanthropic endeavors.
  GRAND BANQUET
With overwhelming requests to provide more time for workshops and meetings, we have decided this year to eliminate the annual Grand Banquet from the Clergy-Laity Assembly. The Metropolis Philoptochos will honor National Philoptochos President, Mrs. Georgia Skeadas, with a Banquet at the LeMont Restaurant, which is located minutes from the Hotel. This Banquet is optional for the Clergy-Laity Delegates. Banquet information will be forthcoming from Philoptochos, and all arrangements are being handled by Philoptochos. Watch your mail for more information.
  SPONSORSHIP
Eliminating the Grand Banquet has also eliminated a major fundraising opportunity for the Metropolis. We encourage all past banquet-book supporters, including parishes and Philoptochos chapters, to become a sponsor for the Clergy-Laity Assembly. All sponsors will be acknowledged, and all proceeds will go toward various Metropolis ministries and needs.
  DELEGATE OR OBSERVER
Our Clergy-Laity Assembly has changed venues and formats, but the criteria for determining delegates and observers to the Assembly have not changed. Please refer to the Uniform Parish Regulations for more information. The criteria for determining a delegate or observer to the Philoptochos Assembly are detailed in the Philoptochos by-laws.
  CLERGY SYNDESMOS/CLERGY-FAMILY RETREAT
The annual fall Clergy-Family Retreat for this year has been canceled. Clergy-specific portions of the retreat have been added to the Clergy-Laity Assembly schedule. An additional charge of $ 20.00 per priest has been added to the Assembly registration to cover the additional expenses of a retreat speaker. In this way, we hope to make the most of our time, and to eliminate the need to travel twice in the same month. Presvyteres are encouraged to attend either the Clergy-Laity Assembly or Philoptochos Assembly as observers. The Registration Fee for observers will apply.
  REGISTRATION & HOTEL INFORMATION
Registration fee is $170.00 for clergy, and $150.00 for lay delegates and observers. The same fee applies for the Philoptochos Assembly. Please refer to the Registration Forms for more details. Checks are to be made payable to the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Pittsburgh. The registration fee includes some Assembly meals, but does not include the Philoptochos Banquet, nor does it include hotel accommodations. Registering for the Assembly does not reserve your hotel room; you must book your overnight accommodations. Hotel reservations may be made by calling the Sheraton Station Square Hotel at (412) 261-2000. A special rate of $99.00 per night has been secured by mentioning "Greek Orthodox Metropolis." Reservations must be made before October 12th to receive this special rate.
